Empowering the
women of Bam

In the aftermath of the devastating Bam
Earthquake in Southeastern Iran 44 non- governmental and
civil societal organizations formed the "Coordination
Committee of Non- Governmental women's Organizations for
Assistance to the Construction of Bam."
After a comprehensive stakeholder
assessment the committee embarked on the construction of
a cultural center for women to provide young women who
are among the most fragile groups in Bam with
educational, cultural and recreational facilities.
Selecting Nobel Peace Prize Laureate,
Shirin Ebadi, as trustee for the project an account was
opened in her name.
With a building of more than 1000 square
meters located on one hectare of land, the project will
feature multiple classrooms, a large amphitheatre, a
cafeteria, nursery room and a library plus athletic and
recreational facilities.
The estimated cost required for the
construction of the building is about 360,000,000 Tomans
which has already been raised and Partly utilized. This
modern facility with it's unique architecture is
currently nearing completion and funds are required to
cover air- conditioning facilities, adequate green space
design, furniture and equipment.
We invite you to help us build a
sustainable future for the young women of Bam with your
contributions.
